The Kernersville Police Department would like to inform the citizens of Kernersville that the construction in the area of South Main Street and Old Winston Road has reached a point in construction where they can no longer excavate the onsite rock by mechanical means. Therefore, they will have to blast excavate the remaining rock. Their Geotechnical Engineers have completed all pre-blast surveys of all the structures within the required radius to ensure this is conducted safely. All relevant approvals and permits have been obtained for this scope of this work to be completed.
Their work will begin on August 10, 2016 and continue through the next two weeks (excluding Saturday and Sunday). Blast operations will commence on or before 3:00 p.m. each business day to remove the rock. There will be an air horn notification sounded prior to each blasting event. Please note that the company has informed this agency that the blast will be minor in terms of noise emitted from the site.
Please be patient with this work as it will only be temporary. Thank you for your patients regarding this minor inconvenience as it is needed to improve our community development.
